The Aeotec Clamp Power Meter - one clamp GEN5 (60A), also known as the Aeotec Home Energy Meter Gen5 (ZW095) single-clamp version, is a Z-Wave Plus device designed to monitor and report the total electricity consumption of a building or a large circuit. This specific version is intended for single-phase electrical systems and uses a single, non-invasive current transformer (CT) clamp rated for up to 60 A to measure the current flowing through a single main wire. It wirelessly reports real-time power (Watts) and accumulated energy (kWh) usage to a compatible Z-Wave smart home gateway.
Features
-
Single-Phase Monitoring: Designed for 1-phase electrical installations common in certain European/Australian markets.
-
60 A Current Clamp: Uses one CT clamp with a maximum measuring current of 0 A to 60 A to measure the load on a single electrical line.
-
Whole-Home or Circuit Monitoring: Typically installed in the main electrical box to monitor total home consumption, or on a specific circuit for focused monitoring.
-
Real-Time Data Reporting: Reports immediate power usage (Watts) and accumulated energy (kWh) with high accuracy (over 99% for currents >0.05 A).
-
Z-Wave Plus (Gen5) Technology: Utilizes the Z-Wave Plus protocol for extended range (up to 130 meters outdoors), improved battery life, and enhanced security (AES−128 encryption) when transmitting data to a Z-Wave gateway.
-
Weatherized Design: The main body is IP44 rated, making it resistant to rain and snow when installed vertically, which is useful if the main circuit box is metal or located outdoors in a sheltered area.
-
Load Monitoring Customization: Allows configuration of reporting groups and intervals to optimize how frequently and what type of data is sent to the gateway.
-
Bi-directional Power Measurement (Configurable): Can be configured to report both positive (consuming) and negative (generating, e.g., solar) power flow, depending on the smart home gateway's support.
